Cigarette smoking is on the decline, and for good reason, too, as more people are learning about the harmful effects of tobacco. There is a rising trend as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes and those are hemp cigarettes, or CBD cigarettes as they are sometimes called. It usually consists of ground industrial hemp packed into cigarette sticks.  Nicotine vs CBD  Some studies suggest nicotine does have some health benefits, like reducing risk of obesity or Parkinson's disease. Cannabidiol, or CBD, the main cannabinoid in hemp is proving to be therapeutically beneficial in many regards, such as anxiety-relief and pain-relief. There...

As mentioned in our previous blog post about CBD , cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid in hemp. Delta-8 THC is also a cannabinoid in hemp, found in trace quantities, but mostly isomerized from CBD. Thus, most labs produce Delta-8 from CBD.  While Delta-8 binds to the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors, CBD changes the shape of the CB1 receptor in a way that weakens its ability to bind with THC. CBD also modulates several non-cannabinoid receptors and ion channels.  Both are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill.  Difference between Delta-9 THC and Delta-8 THC From a chemical or structural perspective, delta-8-THC differs from...

CBD is one of 483 compounds in cannabis, 113 of which are cannabinoid compounds. First isolated in 1942, it is a phytocannabinoid in cannabis that interacts with the endocannabinoid system in humans. Unlike delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the other main cannabinoid for which the cannabis plant is consumed and is famous, CBD does not induce intoxicating effects.  It can be absorbed by inhalation via smoke/vapor, aerosol spray, by ingestion via the mouth, and with consumer reports its effectiveness as a topical applied through the skin.   The only FDA-approved prescription is epidiolex, used to treat epilepsy.  CBD has potential for pain-relief, anti-anxiety, to treat psychosis,...

Is CBD Legal?  In short, yes. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized the cultivation, distribution and sale of hemp on a federal level. It removed hemp (cannabis with lower than 0.3% THC) from the definition of marijuana in the Controlled Substances Act.  CBD, or cannabidiol, the main cannabinoid in hemp other than THC, which does not give users a "high", has grown in popularity due to its perceived benefits in people, such as its anti-anxiety and pain relieving qualities. CBD, however, is not regulated.  Must Distinguish "hemp-derived" vs "marijuana-derived" CBD derived from hemp (that is, cannabis plants with less than 0.3% THC) is...

A growing trend is the rise in popularity of Δ8-THC. As most people are familiar with Δ9-THC, the primary active phytocannabinoid in cannabis/marijuana — and is a Schedule I Drug — that induces a high, Delta-8-THC is its close cousin that is also legal.  These two phytocannabinoids are analogs of THC whose atoms are arranged slightly differently. Delta-8 still connects to the central nervous system's cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) that THC does, thus enabling people to get the benefits of THC with less of the psychotropic effect.  Therapeutic Benefits of Delta-8-THC: Antiemetic - helps with nausea and vomiting Anxiolytic - reduce...
