Delta-8-THC: What you Need to Know

A growing trend is the rise in popularity of Δ8-THC. As most people are familiar with Δ9-THC, the primary active phytocannabinoid in cannabis/marijuana — and is a Schedule I Drug — that induces a high, Delta-8-THC is its close cousin that is also legal.

These two phytocannabinoids are analogs of THC whose atoms are arranged slightly differently. Delta-8 still connects to the central nervous system's cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) that THC does, thus enabling people to get the benefits of THC with less of the psychotropic effect.

Therapeutic Benefits of Delta-8-THC:

  • Antiemetic - helps with nausea and vomiting
  • Anxiolytic - reduce anxiety and stress-related anxiety
  • Stimulates appetite
  • Analgesic - Relieves pain
  • Protects brain from stress and inflammation
  • Enhances memory

People who are sensitive to Delta-9-THC often find that Delta-8 is a good alternative.

Conditions that could be helped by Delta-8 THC include:

  • Dementia
  • Anxiety
  • Cancer
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mood enhancement
  • Nausea
  • Inflammatory Brain conditions (e.g. concussions, TBI, CTE)

Is it legal?

In 2018, the Farm Bill was signed into law. That legislation states that all derivatives of hemp (cannabinoids, analogs, etc.) are completely legal in the United States as long as they do not contain more than .3% THC (Delta 9 THC to be specific). After this law was passed, many health & wellness brands began selling CBD products, CBG products, and other hemp derivatives that comply with that law. It is organically derived from hemp. So yes, it is legal.

Do we offer Delta-8 products?
